Guilds

If you’ve already spent time in 5th edition D&D then you can think of Guilds as the equivalent to Factions. Another way to think of Guilds is to compare them to modern day trade unions. They each are a quasi-political organization and each town or city big enough to support a guild hall for a specific Guild will have one.

Typically they are secretive and powerful organizations who, through a multitude of means are trying to achieve their own goals. You do not have to be part of a Guild but joining one (and going through the initiation) will open up some doors that were inaccessible before.
